A bunch of Akira Kurosawa movies on Netflix Instant are going beddy bye on the 21st. I just rewatched Seven Samurai and it is as glorious as I remembered it. It’s an archetype plot whose permutations include the Magnificent Seven, of course, and the Three Amigos but it’s so damn well acted and has stunning cinematography. Kikuchiyo is one of my most favorite movie characters ever.
Don’t let the 3:25 running time scare you away. You’ll get sucked into its world and it will feel like a regular 1:40 movie. Seriously, check it before it goes off instant because I know you let subtitled movie DVDs sit in a pile for 3 months before sending it right back.

This just happened without my touching my queue. Dennis Hopper must be watching over me.
